This is the view of our classroom when you first walk in. Here is the front view of our classroom Here is the back of our classroom Here is another side view. Here is where we meet in the morning to review the calendar, time, money, number patterns and so much more! This is our little meeting area in the back of the classroom. This is where we sing, read, learn and do many fun things! We all have a very special spot to sit. Here is our Word Wall and we add about five new words a week. We can use the Word Wall to help us write, read and play lots of fun games! At the back of the room, you will find our kidney table. Here is where we meet for small group instruction and Guided Reading groups. The bulletin board shows different reading strategies that the student will be learning throughout the year. We have three computers that the students visit during centers or during free time. We also have laptops once a month! Here is our centers cart. There are 20 different independent centers for each month that are created based on our reading curriculum. The materials in the centers reinforce skills being taught throughout the month. Some of the centers that the student can explore are: Read the Room, Listening Center, Word Family Practice, Phonic Folders, Stamp Center, Magnet Center and much, much more! Here is our classroom library. The children really enjoy picking out "Just Right" books. This is where the students receive very special awards for demonstrating exceptional behavior. The goal is to keep their card on green all day long to earn a lottery ticket.
The students learn about responsibility very early in first grade. By the second week of school, every student will have a job. Every student will have a chance to do all the jobs by the end of the year.
