Introduction |
|
There's nothing like a cool, tasty ice cream on a hot day! But what
can you do when you open your freezer and there is no ice cream?
Don't worry, you can make your own homemade ice cream.
 |
|
Task |
|
You will be researching "How ice cream is made." Then, you
will create a new flavor of ice cream and design the package for
your new ice cream flavor. Finally, if you would like you can
make your homemade ice cream at home.
 |
|
Process |
|
1. You will research the process of How Ice Cream is made.
Click on the link and watch
From-Cow-to-Cone
and look out for the Extra Content! (A Flavor is Born).
2.
You will complete a "How Ice Cream is Made Chart". Please print the
following page or ask your teacher for a copy:
(How Ice Cream is Made)
3.
Now you can visit the
Flavor Lab
to create your very own ice cream flavor. Print out a copy
of your final product.
4. You must complete a worksheet by writing the name of your
flavor, completing a description of the flavor and an
advertisement. Please print the following page or ask your teacher
for a copy and follow the directions:
(Inventing
A New Ice Cream Flavor).
5.
Submit your final poster to the classroom teacher by April 16th to receive
extra credit and a special surprise. All your posters will be displayed in the cafeteria.

Now that you are done creating your own ice cream flavor and
package, you will research how to make Homemade Ice Cream.

1. Go to this website
(Making
Ice Cream),
read
How to Make Ice Cream,
and watch the video at the bottom of the page.
2.
Once you have read the article and watched the video, you can
practice making ICE CREAM!
3.
Work with someone at home to help you measure out the ingredients
and pour them into a bag.
4.
Once you have the two bags (one filled with ice and one filled with
the ice cream mixture), shake them!
5.
SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE!!
6. Take
turns with shaking the ice cream bag for about 10 to 15 minutes.
7.
Finally, go ahead and eat your treat!!!
Enjoy,
Enjoy, Enjoy!!
