Introduction

There's nothing like a cool, tasty ice cream on a hot day!  But what can you do when you open your freezer and there is no ice cream?  Don't worry, you can make your own homemade ice cream.                                                     

Task

You will be researching "How ice cream is made."  Then, you will create a new flavor of ice cream and design the package for your new ice cream flavor.  Finally, if you would like you can make your homemade ice cream at home.

Process

2.  Now you can visit the Flavor Lab to create your very own ice cream flavor.  Print out a copy of your final product. 

3.  You must complete a worksheet by writing the name of your flavor, and adding a picture of your new flavor or package.  Please print the following page or ask your teacher for a copy and follow the directions: (Inventing A New Ice Cream Flavor).

4.  Submit your final poster to the classroom teacher by April 16th to receive extra credit and a special surprise.  All your posters will be displayed in the cafeteria.

Now that you are done creating your own ice cream flavor and package, you will research how to make Homemade Ice Cream. 

1.  Go to this website (Making Ice Cream), read How to Make Ice Cream, and watch the video at the bottom of the page. 

2.  Once you have read the article and watched the video, you can practice making ICE CREAM!

4.  Once you have the two bags (one filled with ice and one filled with the ice cream mixture), shake them!

5.  SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE!!

7. Finally, go ahead and eat your treat!!!
